The Studio & Coworking
Your First Visit to CHQ Home Arts Studio: What to Expect and Bring
First time visiting a home art studio in Marikina? How to arrange a visit, what the space is like, what to bring and what to wear for a messy afternoon.
Visiting a home studio is not like walking into a shop. It is closer to visiting a friend. Here is how it works.
Before you come
We are an apartment in Marikina, so we do not post our address or keep walk-in hours. Every visit starts with a message.
- Send an inquiry or DM @chqhomeartsstudio.
- Tell us what you would like to do: make something, cowork, read, buy a piece, or just look around.
- We agree on a day and time and send you directions.
What the space is like
- The tables. Watercolour and acrylic, oil pastels and pens, air-dry clay and resin, wire, notebooks and zine supplies. Mid-project and a little messy, the way a studio should be.
- The window nook. A plant stand by a south-facing window, a view of the Rizal mountains, and room to read, strum or sing.
- Guitars and a mini library. A couple of guitars against the wall and shelves to borrow a book from.
- A work desk. Fast 5G Wi-Fi and coffee for people who come to cowork.
What to bring
- Nothing, for art. Materials are provided.
- Your laptop and charger, if you are working.
- A notebook, if you journal. Or pick up a Marikina Field Notes here for ₱100.
- A book, or borrow one.
- A container or bag to carry home what you make.
What to wear
Clothes you do not mind staining. Acrylic paint and resin do not wash out. Tie back long hair if you are working with resin or clay.
How long to stay
A making session is usually a couple of hours. A coworking day is a day. Tell us your plan when you message so we can prepare the table.
A few house notes
- It is a home. Be as gentle with it as you would with a friend's place.
- Tell us about allergies or sensitivities, especially before a resin session.
- Ask before taking photos of other visitors.
Make it a Marikina day
Get coffee nearby before or after. The Marikina coffee shop directory will show you what is close, and our day-in-Marikina itinerary strings a studio visit together with the river and a café.
